Tirana - 12-13 December 2017 - The Institute for Nature Conservation in Albania organised in Tirana on 12-13 December, 2017, the workshop “Transboundary ecosystem management in the Sharr/Šar Planina-Korab-Koritnik”. This event was supported by the project “Transboundary Ecosystem Services” funded by GIZ/Open Regional Fund for South-East Europe-Biodiversity (ORF-BD).
The purpose of the workshop aimed at bringing together the stakeholders from the three countries, to present and assess the current situation of transboundary cooperation in the trilateral area, to identify the existing problems as well to share ideas and best practices for improving and strengthening further the cooperation and collaboration amongst them.
The meeting focused also on the discussions for establishing a transboundary cooperation mechanism that will pave the way in the future to the creation of a joint management body for the trilateral area as agreed in the Joint Vision for Transboundary Protected Area of Sharr/Šar Planina-Korab-Koritnik signed in 2013 and confirmed by the joint Declaration of the three ministers of Environment of the three countries (Albania, Macedonia and Kosovo) in March 2017.
