Green Librazhd – The voice of youth for a city without single-use plastic!

Within the framework of the cooperation agreement between Librazhd Municipality and the Institute for Nature Conservation in Albania (INCA), the awareness campaign was launched through an open dialogue between the Mayor of Librazhd, high school students, and representatives of the Local Youth Council, as part of the BeMed+ project for protecting the Shkumbin River and reducing plastic pollution. Local NGOs active in community engagement and environmental awareness also joined the meeting, reinforcing the collective effort for a greener and more sustainable city.

The Mayor and the youth committed to continue this awareness campaign, launched through the BeMed+ project, as a shared responsibility in schools, streets, neighborhoods, and homes. Students engaged in a free discussion with the Mayor, sharing their needs and opportunities for a cleaner city, their role as active citizens, and the collective responsibility of the community. The dialogue brought forward ideas on municipal management measures, citizen awareness, and reducing the use of single-use plastics. From the classroom to the community — change starts with us!

This dialogue placed the voice of young people at the center of change, opening the path towards a plastic-free Librazhd and a cleaner Shkumbin River, for a brighter and more sustainable future.
