Improving Coverage and management effectiveness of marine and coastal protected areas
After a series of consultative meetings in most of the coastal cities, on Friday 12 April 2013, INCA, in collaboration with UNDP, organized a final Consultative Meeting on Strategic Plan for Marine and Coastal Protected Areas (SPMCPA). This plan is an important result in the framework of the project "Improving Coverage and management effectiveness of marine and coastal protected areas". The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Water Administration, UNDP, civil society, academia as well as experts in various fields, etc.
The meeting focused on Marine and Coastal Protected Areas which are known worldwide as one of the most effective instruments to manage marine and coastal environment where threats to the environment are of geographical nature and where threats can be managed at geographical level. The process of drafting the Strategic Plan for Marine and Coastal Protected Areas, also took a special place in the meeting discussions, it self as The Strategic Plan was acknowledged by the experts and stakeholders as a complete and very important document for the future of the albanian coast.
