4-th Steering Committee of Karaburun-Sazan and Project Board meeting
On 13th June, in Orikum Municipality meeting room was held the 4th Steering Committee of Karaburun–Sazan MPA which playing also the role of the Project Coordination Committee, with participants of different institutions in local and central level as the Mayer of Orikum Municipality, the UNDP Country Director, the Chief of the Protected Areas Section in the Ministry of Environment, the Director of Regional Environmental Directorate in Vlora, the Director of Forestry Service Directorate, the Responsible of Marine Department in WWF MedPO, the representative from Conservatoire du Littoral, local NGO’s.
From the Institute of Nature Conservation in Albania (INCA) the President of Board, Mr. Zamir Dedej, and the SEA-Med Project Coordinator, Ms. Marinela Mitro, were present. The Committee meets regularly every six months discussing and consulting very actively management issues of the MPA.
Mr. Giuseppe Di Carlo, present in the meeting presenting the work done on the tourism management plan and the management plan on Karaburun-Sazan MPA in collaboration with national and international experts and the next steps and actions to be taken for the next six months. He make a presentation of the main activities held as the studies developed for the nature based tourism activities, assessment of certification tourism system in Albania, different workshop and training activities, meeting with the stakeholders, developing of the communication strategy, etc. The debate inside the meeting went smoothly and the participants of the institution requested more activities that impact the area.
