Meeting for the opening of the project "Promoting the sustainable use of natural resources of the Kune - Vain - Tale nature reserve ecosystem".
The event took place on 10.05.2019, in the Lezha Municipality Library hall, and was attended by representatives of the Municipality of Lezha, (out of 4 directors), the Director of RAPA, Mr. Peter Toni and members of his staff, representatives by the ShengjinAdministrative Unit, journalist, environmental specialists, etc. The event was opened by Mr. Zef Imeraj, Executive Director of ECL while on behalf of INCA, the participants were greeted by Mr. Nihat Dragoti, Executive Director of INCA.
At this meeting was presented all the components of the project by environmental expert Mr. J Gjini, addressing issues with key stakeholders involved in its implementation and its beneficiaries in order to inform, reconfirm and provide support during its implementation.
Afterwards, the meeting continued with questions and answers related to technical, organizational, etc. explanations to ensure the success of project activities such as: for revitalizing Drini river and keeping it clean, cooperating with fisheries, managing tourism resources and assets and dealing with the ecosystem as a whole ecological unit.
While discussions focused on the project goals, identifying as its main product information, awareness and active participation of all stakeholders interested in advocacy on all issues related to the well-managed and sustainable use of natural resources of the KVT ecosystem.It also clarified the ways in which changes are achieved according to the objective, giving due importance to networking. The activity was concluded with the conclusions and work plan and was characterized by a spirit of understanding and confidence in the implementation of all activities of this project and encouraged synergies for the successful development of all its components.
Organizing a competition with KVT area school students with smartphone video for the KVT area.
This activity started in April 2019 at the Ishull Lezhë High School, aimed to inform and raise awareness of students, and through students, their parents and relatives and the entire community where they live and learn, and the ability to raise concerns about the sustainable use of Kune - Vain - Tale ecosystem natural resources.
The competition was announced through communications with students from classrooms V to IX, and the group of students with the most interest in using the smartphone was formed. Students and teachers were given a leaflet listing everything intended to be achieved through this activity.
On May 2, 2019, with the group formed with students from different classes, a training was held both in the classroom and in the external environments of this school, with the aim of concretizing the chosen topic within a video. Some examples of collaboration between students were staged and realized.
Subsequently, the project staff maintained constant contact with students and their teachers, encouraging them in this activity until the completion of the videos. Following is the group that makes the video assessments with the teacher, pupil and the Headmaster, who made the video assessments according to the evaluation criteria set out previously.
On June 12, the awards ceremony was organized in an environment chosen and adapted for this purpose. This ceremony was welcomed by the school director, Mr. Tom Deda, and the project representative. Following was the screening of all the videos and for each performance there was a presentation of the performing students as well as evaluation comments from the students and teachers present. In this way, the ceremony exceeded the expectations of the project and the participants themselves, in particular the emotions it conveyed. The winners of the best videos were announced and the certificates were distributed to the participating students.
Tour with local and national media journalists in the KVT Protected Area accompanied by an outdoor press conference on advocacy to address solutions related to the sustainable use of the KVT area's natural resources.
The tour with journalists took place on 9.08. 2019, with 30 participants, in the KVT Protected Area, in an intenerarincluding all the critical points related to the environmental situation of this area.Before departure, distributes you to reportersa written statement which describes in detail the problems and venues chosen for the tour and served the development of the conference.The tour followed according to previously set stops in the KVT area. During the tour a press conference was held in which the expert J. Gjini, concretized his speech all the time with the sights of the field, which made the conference very attractive and increased the attention of the participants.
During the conference and after the speech, there were questions from journalists as to the reasons for the pollution on the coast of Kune (eutrophication of the Merxhan lagoon).
Then responding to the interest of the journalists, in full harmony with the requirements of the tour as a project activity, the interviews were conducted at selected points according to the issues:
- For coastal erosion, the northern part of the Drin River estuary, where the erosion is very aggressive, focusing on interpreting the causes, consequences and recommending mitigation or specific solutions;
- For the pollution of the Drin River and its impact on the coast, sea and lagoons, we stopped at the estuary;
- For issues related to eutrophication we stopped at the canal that connects the Drin River with the Zaje lagoon.
This conference and the whole tour were published by Tv Lezha, Tv Rozafa, and only the waste issue in Top Channel.
Training, acquaintance with with the management plan of the Kune - Vain - Tale protected area and issues related to the observance and implementation of this plan".
The training activity took place on 30. 09.2019 and 1. 10. 2019 in the RAPA building in Vain and in the Library of Lezha city.
Participants are introduced in detail to the KVT management plan, as it has served to preserve and protect the integrity of the landscapes, habitats and biodiversity of this Mediterranean wetland ecosystem and the sustainable use of this ecosystem's natural resources.Also, dealing with issues related to the implementation of management plan requirements by RAPA staff, Management Committee tasks, Lezha Municipality development plans related to protected areas as well as legal responsibilities and tasks at local level on protected area issues, exalted the level of activity according to the intended purpose. Participants took part in numerous questions and discussions on the chosen topic.
The training was accompanied by field visits and concretized discussions and replications of many issues related to the management of the values of this natural heritage. This training with a wide participation of interested stakeholders influence their awareness to protect and improve the natural values of the area and to increase their role in the sustainable use of the natural resources of this area.
TV chronicle on the Kune - Vain - Tale protected area.
The realization of the chronicle was done in cooperation with Albanian Tv Channel (TVSH), with journalist Mr. Marash Mirashi, and the Chronicle has become part of the “Green Space” programme of this public television and is being published on YouTube.The shooting took place on 12.09.2019 throughout the Kune Vain Tale protected area, drone shooting was also carried out, and the problems identified are expressed by the voices of the interviewees and the comments made by the journalist for this purpose, all these are accompanied by views of the terrain.Waste management issues are particularly focused and are particularly reflected in the hotspot situation of the Drin River estuary.
Most important during filming that is reflected in the chronicle was the participation of many actors in this activity as field observers, carrying out cleanings in the territory, mentioning: Mr. Gjok Jaku, Prefect of Lezha District; Mr. Nihat Dragoti, Executive Director of INCA; Mr. Pjeter Toni, Director of Lezha ADZM; Mr. Ardjan Laçi, Director of Education, Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Lezha; Mr. Zef Imeraj Executive Director of ECL; Mr. Jak Gjini, ECL environmental biologist and expert, RAPA staff, fishermen of LURA company etc.
This Chronicle is part of a strategy to advocate, along with other activities, for a range of issues that require solutions related to promoting the sustainable use of the Kune - Vain - Tale nature reserve ecosystem.
Report on management plan review. (Expertise Commitment).
The drafting of the Report on Management Plan Review by Environmental Expert Jak Gjini is based on the study and detailed analysis of the existing Kune-Vain-Tale Protected Area Management Plan report. Also, during the period 15. September to 31 October 10. 2019, numerous meetings were held with the staff of the protected area, as with Mr. Gjok Jaku, the Chairman of the Management Committee of the protected area Kune Vain Tale, with others members of this committee, with subjects that are active in this area, etc.
All interventions and activities taking place in the area, RAPA documents to analyze compliance with the existing Management Plan, have been reviewed and evaluated. This report has been sent to the National Environmental Agency, RAPA Lezha and all key stakeholders directly or indirectly related to the management or use of the natural resources that this protected area offers.
The report drafted recommends the urgent need to revise this plan.
Drafting and publishing a booklet on the impacts of the Drin River on the ecosystems of Kune Vain as well as the impact of climate in this regard.
The booklet "Impacts of the Drin River on the Kune - Vain - Tale Ecosystems" was prepared by Ing. Zef Imeraj, and has focused on the main issues related to geomorphologic dependence, the role of the drastic reduction of the Drin River flows in enhancing coastal erosion on both sides of this river delta.
This brochure also reflects the polluting sources of the Drin River and the degradation impacts of the KVT ecosystem through the inflow of polluted water into Zaja Lagoon. This publication also identifies the natural values of the KVT ecosystem, the historical heritage, the community relations of the area and beyond with the natural resources that this ecosystem offers and the project objectives.
Through promotional activity dated 16.02.2020, in the Lezha City Library, many issues related to the revitalization of the DriniRiver were advocated, which were addressed to local government bodies and the responsible ministry in favour of ecosystem renewal. The activity highlighted that the revitalization of the Drin River leads to mitigation of coastal erosion, adaptation of the area to the effects of climate change, habitat restoration and biodiversity improvement.
Extensive participation in this activity by representatives of local government, law enforcement agencies, environmental associations, entities active in the KVT area, young people and students as well as speeches by attendees, exceeded expectations. The brochure was distributed not only to the participants but also to the institutions and all stakeholders targeted by the project.
Photography Exhibition with the best landscape findings of the Kune - Vain - Tale lagoon complex.
The photo exhibition which evokes the landscape values of the Kune - Vain - Tale nature reserve through 27 views, opened on 16.02.2020, in the main hall of the building of the "Gjergj Fishta" Library of Lezha.
The promotion of this exhibition was attended by representatives of local government, law enforcement agencies, environmental associations, entities active in the KVT area, young people and students, citizens and numerous visitors. The President of the Lezha Ecological Club, Mr. Zef Imeraj, the environmental expert Jak Gjini spoke about the importance of this event.
The greeting speech was held by Mr. Renaldo Xhanej, Director of Tourism and Culture in the Lezha Municipality.
During the exhibition visit, attendees were accompanied by activists from the Lezha Ecological Club who described the objects focused on the photos. This exhibit stays open for two weeks and then moved onsuburban schoolsof the Kune - Vain - Tale area.

COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS OF CIVIL SOCIETY FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NETWORK "PROTECT THE KUNE-VAIN-TALE ECOSYSTEM"
