Assessment of ecosystems services in EU enlargement countries

On April 18-20, Dr. Z. Dedej and Dr. G. Kromidha participated in the workshop “Assessment of ecosystems services in EU enlargement countries” organized by the Institute for Environment and Sustainability at the Joint research Center of the European Commission, at Ispra Italy. INCA representatives at this meeting showcased the efforts done in Albania to provide for some assessment of ecosystem services highlighting several examples from projects implemented by INCA with the support of different donors.

The workshop was very helpful in recognizing what is going on around Europe, and most important, who is doing what in regard to assessment and mapping of ecosystem services, as an important requirement of CBD and European Biodiversity Strategy 2010-2020.
